Although I really enjoyed the story concept, I
didn’t like the style is was written. It was way too formal and posh for my
liking and I hated that with every bit of speech between the characters, this
author ALWAYS included the names... sometimes even more than once in the
speech. It was really annoying and I couldn’t get over that, even after reading
until the very end.
I liked the character of Matthew the most; laid-back, caring, big heart and an all round lovable character.
I would have liked Alice Henderson if she wasn’t so uppity and stubborn. I mean, there’s being stubborn, then there’s being OTT stubborn... Alice was OTT. Same with Tom, uppity bloke who flaunted himself.
Leanne probably would have been okay, but she seemed a bit pushy.
Although I didn’t enjoy the characters nor the style of writing, I did the like the story. It was well thought out and I DEFINITELY didn’t see that ending coming. That was an amazing reveal and I didn’t guess AT ALL the ‘who dunnit’. I don’t think anyone will.
Good story, but not a bit put off with how it was written. Disappointing, as I’ve read this author’s work before and enjoyed it thoroughly.
