4 ****
This would have been a 3 star read
but because of its storyline, level of excitement and tenseness, I’ve given it
a 4.
The reason for my hesitation is because none of the characters were likeable. I
didn’t feel any kind of connection to them including Grace... who was really
the major victim in all of this. I hated Douglas, hated Anna, hated Cora and
Tim. Can’t really judge on Nick because he was barely in it. The only really
likeable character was Lottie, the child. She didn’t do anything wrong.
This whole story felt a bit like a loose cannon and so many things were going
on it was a bit of a mind game. Which is good, but at the same time it was hard
to keep up. But, the story was interesting, it was almost, almost, realistic.
The ending wasn’t at all but it was good... definitely an explosion.
The author’s writing style was pretty good. Descriptive enough to feel like you
can picture everything which is brilliant and exactly what you need in this
genre. But I think she definitely needs to work more on her characters and
their personalities and not just the storyline and where that’s going.
Worth a read, for sure.
