Holy smokes... the FEELS!! I’m still reeling
with anxiety that I got from reading the end of that book that I’m struggling
to come up with everything I wanted to say in this review, so I’m just winging
it!
It takes a lot for a book to grip my heart and simultaneously
give me a massive headache, but Roma King achieved both in equal measure. In a
good way, mind you. I don’t mind having a headache after reading this!!
We’re introduced to so many characters that I found it hard
to keep up and some I’ve already forgotten and feel bad about! I loved Zara
though. I adored her actually. I loved her fiery attitude, her as a whole and
generally liked her character-personality. Pasha... he’s a 50/50 for me. I love
an alpha male as much as the next reader but he was maybe a bit too much for
me. Still sizzlingly hot but he’s not a guy I’d fawn over in real life cause
his attitude stinks.
I did like the majority of background or secondary characters
too, like Sarah and Garrett. I enjoyed Shelta’s character too... a book like
this isn’t the same with one Uber-bitch, right? And she’s it.
The story was gripping and gritty, suspenseful and mysterious
and nail-biting-inducing all at once. It was incredibly well written, to the
point that I forgot I had a life at all and I was a fly that followed these
characters about.
Gutted about the cliffy at the end, I’m not fond of those and
now I’m shoved into a book funk because I want to know what happens.
I found the scene with Zara and Pasha near the end was way
too long and skipped a fair bit of it because it was too drawn out for me (I’m
not a fan of sex scenes now I’ve read so many) but I didn’t use that against my
rating because the storyline itself was AMAZING and INTENSE.
